3. Gold price data and calculations

Gold prices and melt values shown on KaratGuide are estimates generated from third-party market data and simple arithmetic. They may be delayed, unavailable, rounded, incomplete, or wrong.

• Price and currency API: the calculator, ticker, and gold price pages fetch rates from cdn.moneyconvert.net/api/latest.json.
• Gold spot price: the API returns an XAU rate. KaratGuide estimates USD per troy ounce of 24K gold as 1 / rates.XAU.
• Per-gram price: KaratGuide divides the estimated troy-ounce price by 31.1035, the number of grams in one troy ounce.
• Karat melt value: estimated value is calculated as weight in grams x karat purity x 24K price per gram. For example, 18K uses a purity factor of 0.75 and 14K uses approximately 0.5833 or 0.585 depending on the page.
• Other weight units: troy ounces use 31.1035 g, tola uses 11.664 g, and tael uses 37.429 g where shown.

4. No guarantee of accuracy

We do not guarantee that any content, gold price, currency conversion, purity value, formula, output, chart, translation, or calculation on KaratGuide is accurate, complete, current, reliable, or suitable for your purpose. Mistakes, miscalculations, stale data, wrong gold prices, and technical errors can happen.
